Ignited
New York is a collection of photographic portraits
assembled over the course of 5 years by artist Steve Ellis,
drag performer Michael Formika (Mistress Formika), photographer
Misa Martin, and graphic designer Doerte Fitschen-Rath.
The concept is simple: using backdrops designed by Ellis,
the group sets up and documents the dozens of scenesters
and downtown denizens that populate the shows, night clubs
and bars that make up New York’s edgier nightlife
scene, but also to capture the everyday faces and people
whose creativity blossoms in many glamorous realms.
